Preliminary Objectives:
Incorporate natural elements with modern, functional design in alignment with the building’s goal of being “sustainable in vision, sophisticated in design, and singular in experience.”
In addition to providing conscientiously designed environments for the reception area, terrace, and rooftop that feel inspired by nature, the client wanted to create privacy patio areas for residents with trellis planters, privacy panels, and fencing panels.

Custom Solution:
Custom planters facilitate the biophilic design that adds lush and revitalizing green spaces for building residents to enjoy.
The project included planters in various shapes, sizes, and custom attributes that were all value engineered:
Value-engineered attributes. By reworking the preliminary designs several times, PureModern was able to value engineer the project to find the most cost-effective solution for our client.
Unique shapes. In the reception area, large kidney-shaped planters and modular configurations were meticulously manufactured to enhance visual interest and create dynamic sightlines to complement the building’s modern design. Surrounding the pool are unique, minimalist modular planters that enhance views of the city’s skyline.
Custom accommodations. PureModern took extra care to ensure fences along the lot line met structural load conditions of NYC building codes.
Light shrouds were also manufactured to mimic the custom-fabricated gate and privacy panels that are used through out the apartment building
Trellis planters were strategically incorporated to add layers of privacy to the patio areas. In accordance with NYC building codes, the privacy fences attached to the planters were engineered to resist wind loads (like a sign on a building).
Sustainability. PureModern believes in the importance of sustainability and minimizing the environmental footprint of its products, facilities, and services. We provided supporting information regarding the recycled content of our products to the client, so they could maintain the project’s LEED-Silver certification. (At the time of this project, the amount of recycled content in the aluminum products purchased was approximately 30-50%.)
Constructed from marine-grade aluminum with an architectural-grade powder coat, the planters provide exceptional durability.
